Ambassador Godson O. Echegile (OFR) is a distinguished financial consultant and analyst with over three decades of experience in banking, public sector finance and international relations. He serves as a Non-Executive Director on the Board of Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc and is also the Chairman of the Board of STI Asset Management Limited.
He holds a First Class Honours degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Lagos, as well as an MSc in Finance and an MBA in Management from the same institution. His career spans senior positions in leading financial institutions, including Assistant General Manager, Executive Director and Acting Managing Director at Group Merchant Bank/Commercial Trust Bank Ltd. He also served as Assistant Manager for Foreign Exchange at Citibank Nigeria and Manager/Treasurer at Nigeria Intercontinental Merchant Bank.
Beyond the financial services industry, Ambassador Echegile served as a Nigerian Ambassador from 2008 to 2012, advancing Nigeria's diplomatic interests internationally. His leadership experience includes serving as a Board Member of the National Universities Commission and Pro-Chancellor of Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro. As Chairman of the Board of Directors of STI Asset Management Limited, he continues to contribute his strategic expertise to financial and educational institutions. He holds the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (OFR) and is an active member of the Anglican Communion.
